How we support our foster carers

We are dedicated to providing kids with high-quality foster care. This means that to ensure that our standards of care are met, we give our foster carers the greatest training and assistance possible. If you are someone who can foster then UK Fostering is one of the best choices for you.

Induction

Your induction programme as a new foster care provider will last the entirety of your first year with us. During your induction, you will get to know our team members and other foster carers. You will also learn about the options for continued training and development available to you.

Get to know your mentor

Your first few months as a foster carer will be supported by an experienced foster care partner assigned to you.

Personal development

A fostering social worker will be assigned to you, and they will collaborate with you to create a personalised personal development plan for the year. Your foster carer evaluation will include an annual review of your development plan.

Support is available around the clock.

Through our fostering support teams and the county after-hours service, we offer foster parents in Kent round-the-clock assistance. You can rest confident that we'll be there for you whenever you need us.

Support groups

You are welcome to join any other foster carer support groups we provide, but our new foster carers have their support groups for the first year. Caregivers can share stories, talk about best practices, and learn from one another in supportive groups. Additionally, there are specialised support groups for biological children of foster families.

Specialised assistance

We offer a sense of belonging service with a psychologist from our Placement Stability Team to support children in care and foster families and a fostering social worker supporting you with children in placement. Sessional workers are also hired to assist you in handling challenging circumstances.

The voice of foster carers

We provide clear opportunities for our foster carers to have a meaningful say in developing the programme and the assistance provided by becoming one of our ambassadors or representatives on our Foster Carers' Advisory Board.

Our purpose at UK Fostering is clear. It's to offer the greatest support to every caregiver we deal with, from novice foster families to seasoned caregivers looking for fresh challenges.

All the questions you'll need answers to before beginning your foster care adventure begins the moment you first make contact. Because we are aware that you cannot fulfil your potential as a foster care provider unless we fully support you along the way, providing everything from more effective onboarding to more generous allowances and thorough, continuous training. And helping you grow and develop as a foster carer is the best method we know to help the children you care for develop and grow more happily.
