Who can foster a child in the UK?

You must meet several prerequisites to qualify as a foster parent. You need to:

Have an extra bedroom in your house.

Be a permanent UK resident or possess the authorization to remain in the nation.

Spend time caring for and supporting a young person.

Fostering allowances

We welcome members of the LGBT community to apply to foster at UK Fostering. You will not be prevented from being a foster carer because of your sexual orientation or gender. These characteristics do not affect one's capacity to care for a child. This will depend on your unique circumstances, although many successfully foster while working other jobs. For instance, given your work schedule, can you give enough care? Do you foster with a partner, or are you a lone carer? Do you also have a strong network of support elsewhere? A family member must be accessible to a child at all times—for appointments, pick-up from school, etc.

To apply to foster, you must be at least 21 years old. There is no upper age limit, but you must be in good physical and mental health and have the necessary energy and drive to care for a child. Many effective foster parents work alone, but you must be able to devote all of your time to the job and have a robust support system in place. Fostering a child is not made more difficult by having other children. Having prior experience raising your children will frequently show that you possess the abilities and comprehension of child development required to be a foster care provider.

Why UK Fostering

Fostering a kid is a good decision but can also be challenging. Your tolerance and persistence may, at times, be tested, especially given that many foster children come from challenging situations that can have a negative impact on their development. UK Fostering offers assistance around the clock, and our top-notch training programmes are set up to provide you with the abilities necessary to handle challenging circumstances. You are not alone in fostering since our entire staff is committed to the welfare of your family, the child you are caring for, and yourself.

It's simple to get lost in the sea of information surrounding foster care with all the discussion of rules, assessments, and fostering allowances.  At UK Fostering, we aim to make our foster parents and their children as happy as we can. That's why we put a lot of effort into giving all of our foster carers the best therapeutic training possible, and we ensure that everyone in our community gets along well with one another and has a good matching process.
